The text and figures on this site are written and drawn by Sang Woon Kim, MD, PhD, a paediatric urologist. Copyright rests with the author. What follows separates what you may do without contacting me from what needs permission first.
What you may do without asking
- Link — link to any page freely. Links never need permission.
- Quote briefly — quote a sentence or a paragraph freely, with the source named.
- Read and print for your own use or teaching — reading and printing for clinic or lecture preparation is not restricted.
- Search engines and AI — this site's
robots.txtadmits every search and AI crawler. I only ask that the author and source be shown alongside anything quoted.

What needs permission first
- Reposting an article in whole or in substantial part — including blogs, forums, social media, newsletters and hospital or institutional websites.
- Reproducing or adapting the figures and diagrams — including in lecture slides, papers, conference presentations and teaching material.
- Publishing a translation.
- Commercial use, and inclusion in paid or advertising-supported material.
Requests for teaching and academic use are almost always granted. One line saying which material and where it will appear, sent by LinkedIn message, is enough. If you need a figure for a lecture, it is better for both of us if I send you the full-resolution file.
About the figures
Every illustration and diagram here was made for this site. Figures that deal with a concept from a guideline or a paper are not redrawn versions of the original plates; they are newly composed from the text, and their captions say so. For the same reason, please do not redraw the figures on this site without naming the source.
If you find something copied
If you come across text or a figure reproduced without attribution, I would be grateful if you would let me know. I follow it up by asking for attribution, or through the platform's own takedown procedure.
Every article carries its last-updated date, and the site as a whole is recorded with dates in sitemap.xml and in external archives.
Medical disclaimer
Everything here is for academic and educational reference. It does not replace a diagnosis or a treatment decision for an individual patient. The pages written for parents are general explanations in the same way; judgements about a particular child belong to the clinician who has seen them.
